Picadito is a Spanish word that can have multiple meanings, including an appetizer, a friendly soccer game, or a meal made with ground beef. It also means MIX, which is why this is a post with my latest recommendations and things I’ve been loving lately.
It’s time for a new Picadito, because I haven’t written one in AGES and I have some things I’d love to share with y’all. 💘 It’s been a lovely summer here in Scotland; it lasted approximately 72 hours (in which I went on a picnic by the sea and burned my shoulders), and today we are back to rain jackets and boots. Today is also my last day in my office job (!!!!), which is both scary and exciting. Will write about this more in detail soon!
I have started to upload some comedy mini-sketches to my Instagram, and I’m having fun writing them, filming, and editing. Starting on IG from scratch is not easy, but after a year off, my relationship with the platform is way different, and now I can use it for what it is: a tool. More on this soon, too! (See all the good stuff that’s coming to this newsletter?) 😍
Last weekend I went to Glasgow Zine Fest, organized by Glasgow Zine Library, and it was pretty cool! I’m working on my first zine myself, so with the excuse of research, I got my hands on some amazing zines. Here are my treasures:
And without further ado, let’s go with the reczz!
TV shows
Dying for Sex - Miniseries of 8 episodes based on the true story of a woman who embarks on a sex self-discovery journey after receiving the news that her breast cancer has come back in Stage IV. If this hasn’t convinced you yet, let me add: Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate. You will laugh, you will cry, you will want to copy each one of Williams’s outfits. One of the best-written series I’ve seen this year.
The Gilded Age - The third season of the American cousin of Downton Abbey is finally here, and I am loving the escapism. This battle between “old money” and “new money” in 1880s New York is never exempt from drama and breathtaking costumes and locations, and every scene with Christine Baranski in it is an absolute treat!
Too Much - I am just in the middle of watching this new series by Lena Dunham (does she need an introduction? I don’t think so), and I am really enjoying it. Fantastic cast, and dialogues so sharp-witted and relatable it hurts. Double points to Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel) for playing the villain once again.
Also, is anyone watching the new season of And Just Like That? I’m finding it so boring that I had to stop! I’m sorry, I can’t. Don’t hate me.
Films
I haven’t watched a lot of films lately, apart from the new Jurassic World Rebirth (which was more of the same, except for Jonathan’s Bailey slutty little glasses 🔥 ). But I am reminiscing a lot about my trip to Japan last year and hoping to get back soon (*LOL cries in unemployed freelance*), so if I had to recommend a film, it would be Perfect Days. The film follows the day-to-day life of a toilet cleaner in Tokyo, and it’s incredibly beautiful. As a fun fact, this film is part of the Tokyo Toilet project and was filmed in 17 days!
Books
I have been reading a lot lately, which makes me happy. It also makes me smile to notice that the 3 books I’m recommending only have one word in the title!
Wellness, by Nathan Hill (2023) - I was up until 3 am last night because I couldn’t put this down. This fiction novel follows the past and present of a married couple in Chicago about to buy their forever home, and it’s absurdly brilliant. Low-key jealous about how GOOD the storytelling is in this novel.
Less, by Patrick Grant (2025)- I’ve been thinking a lot about how we need to be a bit more radical with our choices as consumers, and this book does a wonderful job of giving context while laying out the next steps to go towards a more mindful way of shopping. From materials to care, it’s all here.
Want, by Gillian Anderson (2025) - A collection of anonymous sexual fantasies from women around the world. “This revelatory, sensational, and game-changing exploration of women’s sexuality asks, and answers: How do women feel about sex when they have the freedom to be totally anonymous?”

Both her Substack and Youtube channel are worth a subscribe! and her minivlogs: so aesthetically pleasing. Two handmade necklaces I bought at the Mauerpark flea market in Berlin not long ago from Destroy The Lemon Pie, which has inspired me to have fun with all the beads I have at home! / The perfect boat neck sleeveless top from Uniqlo / And two DIYs I want to try this summer:
Misc
Sometimes I surprise myself how much of a basic bitch I can be, especially when I fall for a trend at the same time as EVERYBODY ELSE. Enter: Matcha. Previously, I never really liked it. In 3 weeks in Japan, I think I tried it once, and that was all. No further thoughts other than the classic “It tastes like grass”. Now, suddenly, I’m obsessed (the one from Blank Street Coffee in Edinburgh is my favourite at the moment). I’ve been influenced! I’m just like other girls!! So I got myself this matcha set from OMG Tea to prepare it at home like a good Samurai Matcha and save some 💸
I hope you are all having a lovely summer, whether you are working or on holiday, and remember to take some time for yourself to do the things you really love, like staring into a wall, journaling, or fighting seagulls by the shore threatening to steal your chippy.
Thank you for including me 💕💕
big on Perfect Days — my local cinema has been showing it for over a year, big on uniqlo top — i’ve been eyeing it and i take this article as a sign to press the dreaded “check out” button.
